The team announced the acquisition of American defender Eriq Zavaleta from the Seattle Sounders in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. Zavaleta, 22, spent last season on loan with Chivas USA, where he made 17 appearances. The 10th-overall pick in the 2013 SuperDraft out of Indiana, Zavaleta has represented the US internationally at the under-17 level. Zavaleta is the nephew of TFC head coach Greg Vanney.
