Iowa City, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Frank Kaminsky scored 24 points and Nigel Hayes added 14, leading fifth-ranked Wisconsin to a 74-63 victory over Iowa on Saturday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Josh Gasser and Sam Dekker each chipped in 11 for the Badgers (19-2, 7-1 Big Ten), who have won four straight since a stunning loss at Rutgers on Jan. 11. Kaminsky, who missed the game against the Scarlet Knights because of a concussion, also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds on Saturday while making half of his field goal attempts and 8-of-9 from the free throw line. Wisconsin has won 12 of its last 13, including a season sweep of Iowa. The Badgers rolled to an 82-50 rout of the Hawkeyes just 11 days ago in Madison and have won five straight in the series. Ive always thought we played well away from home because of our attention to detail, said Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan about his teams 6-1 road record. For us to get back-to-back (wins) at Michigan and Iowa is huge. Aaron White scored 15 to lead Iowa (13-8, 4-4), which has lost three in a row. White had played just seven minutes in last weeks loss to Purdue because of a stinger. Gabriel Olaseni contributed 12 points for the Hawkeyes, who shot just 30.4 percent in the second half after a 64 percent effort in the opening 20 minutes. Neither team led by more than three in the first half until an 11-3 run gave Wisconsin a 28-20 edge with just over nine minutes to play. Dekker scored the last four of that burst, but Iowa did not wilt and pulled within 32-30 a few minutes later after a 3-pointer by Peter Jok. Gasser followed with a three-point play for the Badgers, who then carried a 42-36 advantage to the break. A trey by Kaminsky to open the second half and a layup from Bronson Koenig extended the margin to 11. The Hawkeyes got as close as five on a free throw by Olaseni, but it came during an Iowa field goal drought of nearly six minutes. Mike Gesells layup with 9 1/2 minutes remaining ended the dry spell, but Gasser followed with a contested 3-pointer as the shot clock wound down to extend the Wisconsin lead back to 11 at 58-47. We kept plugging defensively, said Ryan. Id like to say we were playing good defense to get it back, but they had some shots that just didnt go down, that do go down at times. Iowa got only as close as eight from there and trailed by as many as 15 down the stretch. Wisconsin held a 35-24 advantage on the boards and finished with 15 offensive rebounds. If youre going to look at one thing that was the difference in the game, it was offensive rebounding, said Iowa coach Fran McCaffery. Normally if they make seven 3s, youve got a shot, but not if you look (at the box score) and see 35-24 (rebounding), 15-7 (offensive rebounding). Thats a recipe for disaster. Game Notes The Badgers made 21-of-26 free throws and 7-of-19 from 3-point range ... Iowa was just 13-of-20 from the stripe ... White has 1,617 career points and moved into sixth place on Iowas all-time scoring list, surpassing Jess Settles (1,611) ... Wisconsin leads the all-time series, 82-79 ... Iowa was trying for its 1,000th home victory and will have another chance at the milestone next Sunday against Maryland. The Hawkeyes will first visit Michigan on Thursday ... Wisconsin will return home to play Indiana on Tuesday. So it was understandable if he was a little shaky early in his return to the Texas Rangers rotation. He spent most of the outing searching for his best stuff, but still managed to shut down the struggling Minnesota Twins offence. Anthony Sherman Youth Jersey . Ive said it before, Ive worked with top pros and I could have made my own program. Its the football equivalent of a hockey team losing its entire blue line. The first six players at one position are injured, and now its a case of next man up. For the Toronto Argonauts, its the receiving corps that has been decimated by injuries. Chad Owens and Andre Durie were one-two in the CFL in receptions last season, Jason Barnes was a favourite target in the red zone, John Chiles was one of the best deep threats in the league and all of them have missed at least the last three games. Add to that, rookie Terrell Sinkfield missed the last game, while last week in Montreal fellow first-year Anthony Coombs was injured, likely for the season. Import Jarred Fayson is also injured. The only good news on the receiving corps is that Sinkfield is expected to play Tuesday night as the Argonauts host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. As for the rest of the injuries, head coach Scott Milanovich gave an update Monday afternoon. On Anthony Coombs shoulder injury being season ending, "I think so" said Milanovich, "The last report I got (Sunday) is it looks like hes going to have surgery, which would put him out for the year." As for when the others would return, "I think Jason Barnes is the closest," continued the coach. "Maybe (the August 23rd game in) Edmonton possibly. I think next week would be a stretch because of the five day week. Pretty much everybody else, Chad and Durie, Im hoping for, thinking Labour Day." Would a Durie, Labour Day return from a broken shoulder surprise the coach? "Im not counting on it yet," said Milanovich. "Chads probably closer than Dre is. A couple of weeks ago Dre said he was feeling great, and then its kind of gone back and forth with him." Chiles hamstring injury has been frustrating for all involved. He made the trip to RRegina two weeks ago, but was scratched just a couple hours before kickoff.dddddddddddd He didnt travel to Montreal last week and the coach is somewhat surprised the speedster isnt back in the lineup. "A little bit, yes. He practiced day one this week and then felt like he couldnt go or he was going to run the risk of pulling it." Milanovich then joked "I was never fast enough to worry about having a hamstring injury, so I have a tough time relating to injuries like that." The Argos finally scored two touchdowns in the same game last week in Montreal, something they hadnt done in the previous three. The prevailing school of thought among outsiders is that its just a case of waiting for the injuries to heal and all offensive ills will be cured. Ricky Ray is hoping thats the case. "To a certain extent, yes," said the quarterback. "Were hoping to get these guys back and to be able to have the guys that you rely on out there to play, but were not just saying that and thinking that, were expecting to win. These young guys that are filling in are very talented guys and now that weve been playing together for a few weeks its time for just to get a little more comfortable and be able to execute better and win some football games." Tuesdays game will be a tough one for the offence against a very talented Bombers defence, led by defensive coordinator/mad scientist Gary Etcheverry. One other note about the receiving corps, Trent Guy has been added to the roster. He wont play Tuesday, but may be in the lineup Sunday against British Columbia. Guy was with the Argos a year ago, and the club may be hoping that he will contribute the way Mo Mann has. After not playing for a year and four games, Mann has 11 catches for 137 yards in the two games he has played this season. ' ' '
